This is What the #Resistance Sounds Like

“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world…would do this, it would change the earth.”
William Faulkner

On Sunday, June 11, IndivisibleCT took these words to heart, and raised its voice in #resistance. We all know music is magic–it stirs something in the soul in a way that even the best speech will never do–but this moving event went beyond even that. Bringing musicians together from near and far, “Songs of Despair and Hope” showed us all what happens when people of different ages, colors, genders, and religions come together to raise their voices in peace (and literal harmony).

But if a picture is worth a thousand words, than a video has to be worth at least 10,000, right?

If  you prefer the written word to music, here are a few for you. “Songs of Despair and Hope” was a fundraiser for IndivisibleCT, but we plan to donate some of the proceeds to other groups–like Planned Parenthood–that have been doing the hard work of resistance and community building for decades.

Thanks again to all the musicians who donated their time and talent:
